Senorita Betty 6/2010

Scott Grady of Knuckleheadz Kustomz, located in Morehead City, NC, knows that in tough economic times our dollars have to stretch farther. He had a ’99 Electra Glide called Black Betty, because as you may have guessed, it was painted all black. Black Betty was wrecked a few years back and had been taking up space on the shop floor ever since. Scott’s idea was to see how radical he could make Black Betty with a budget of $10,000.

First on the list was a motor makeover for the first generation 88” Twin Cam. The motor was upgraded to 96” with Screamin’ Eagle heads and rocker arms, and Crane pushrods, lifters and lifter blocks. A Vance & Hines Big Radius exhaust system was installed to increase performance and give the Bagger a custom look. An S&S Super E carburetor with a Yost Power Tube increases the fuel consumption for the bigger-inch motor. The motor now boasts 98 horsepower and 100 ft.-lbs. of torque.

Coastal Moto was the choice for wheels; a 21” Legacy model rolls up front with matching Coastal Moto polished rotors. An 18” Coastal Moto Legacy wheel rides on the back. Both wheels are equipped with Avon rubber. Keeping Scott’s large frame comfortable is an Arnott Air Ride rear suspension system.

The saddlebags have been stretched four inches with a Bad Dad kit and match the four inch extended Bad Dad rear fender. Riding low on the stretched rear fender is a Drag Specialties taillight and license plate mount. The extremely tall 24” ape hangers were made in-house at Knuckleheadz and feature Küryakyn grips and mirrors. The sound system was upgraded with a Kenwood head unit. Giving the new-and-improved Senorita Betty her flash is a paint job from T.J. Willis at Eastern Auto Body.

To come in under his $10,000 makeover budget, Scott reused as many stock components as possible. The crew at Knuckleheadz Kustomz would be more than happy to give your tired Bagger a new look. Give them a call at 252.247.4700 or visit them online at www.knuckleheadzkustomz.com.
