Speed King 4/2010

If you’re going to name your bike Speed King, it better have a minimum of 100 horsepower. Anything less and stock motorcycles will be barking up your tail pipe. The Todd’s Cycle Speed King Bagger exceeds that number by 10%. Torque is 110 ft.-lbs. matching the horsepower number. It’s debatable, but the rumor is, fast motorcycles go even faster when they have attractive paint. Speed King’s paint and graphics were applied by Buck Wild Designs in candy red, black and silver leaf. Under that paint is extensive custom molding and raised saddlebag lids. All electrical control switches are mounted at the rear edge of the side covers, at a convenient arm’s length.

An Alloy Art air cleaner sits on the outboard side of a ported Harley-Davidson® throttle body to filter incoming air. On the exhaust side of the motor, a Todd’s Cycle/Bassani exhaust pipe assembly extracts the burnt mix. Todd’s Cycle worked some porting magic on the cylinders to get the most from the Screamin’ Eagle cams.

An inverted Marzocchi hydraulic racing fork was chosen for Speed King, it provides a very aggressive appearance when viewed from the front. Special triple-tree clamps were designed and manufactured by Todd’s Cycle and Alloy Art for Speed King.

Performance Machine wheels, and brake equipment continue the racing theme. A 23” wheel rolls up front for steering, the tire of choice is Avon. The rear wheel is an 18” and is also equipped with an Avon tire. Todd’s Cycle Moto handlebars sit in TC Bone Clamps risers and have TC Moto grips installed. A TC Martini headlight and taillight provide safe legal lighting for Speed King. Alloy Art supplied the license plate mount. Magura hand controls look very high tech on those Moto bars. Todd sends a sincere thanks to his crew for making Speed King a reality, especially Brandon Holstein and Dirty Sanchez.
